Most courses sit within a short drive of Lihue. Outfitters Kauai runs its lines on Kipu Ranch, a 4,000-acre private ranch below the Haupu Mountain Range where scenes from Jurassic Park and Raiders of the Lost Ark were filmed. Kauai Backcountry Adventures zips through 17,000 acres of old Lihue Plantation land with views of Mt. Waialeale, one of the rainiest spots on Earth. On the South Shore, Koloa Zipline crosses historic plantation fields above the Waita Reservoir.
Ziplining here grew out of that land. Outfitters Kauai opened a six-line course at Kipu Ranch in 2009, then added the 4,000-foot FlyLine in 2017, which is still the longest zipline in the state. The plantation's century-old irrigation canals went quiet when sugar production ended in 2000. Today you can float through them, tunnels and all, on the Mountain Tubing Adventure.
The FlyLine at Kipu Ranch is the longest zipline on Kauai and in all of Hawaii, at 4,000 feet. You fly it headfirst, side by side with a partner, at around 50 mph. Ride it on its own in about 90 minutes, or as the big finish of the Nui Kauai or AdrenaLine courses.
Most Kauai zipline courses start at age 7, including Koloa Zipline and every Kipu Ranch course. The Backcountry Zipline Tour starts at 12. Kids aged 5 and 6 can still join the Mountain Tubing Adventure, the Kipu Falls hike, or the Kipu Zipline Safari, where they sit out the zipline part.
On the Kipu Ranch courses, riders must weigh 60 to 275 pounds and stand at least 4 feet tall. Koloa Zipline allows up to 280 pounds. The Backcountry Zipline Tour has the tightest range, 100 to 250 pounds, and weighs every guest at check-in.
Prices start at $69 for the FlyLine alone. Full zipline courses run from $160 to $170 per person, and the all-day Kipu Zipline Safari, with kayaking, a hike and lunch, starts at $255. Prices change, so the Book Now button always shows the current rate.
Wear closed-toe shoes or sport sandals with a heel strap; flip-flops aren't allowed on any of them. Skip short shorts, too; Koloa and Backcountry ask for longer shorts or pants. Bring a light rain jacket, reef-safe sunscreen and bug spray, plus a swimsuit for any tour with a swim stop.

All of our Kauai zipline tours are on the south and east sides of the island. Kipu Ranch check-in is minutes from Lihue Airport, the Backcountry tours start on Kuhio Highway in Lihue, and Koloa Zipline sits in Koloa, next to the Poipu resort area. We don't currently list a North Shore course.
